Scotland – Travel Photography

Alternative London Wedding Photographer – Glencoe, Scotland travel destination photography

Scotland, I get it. I really, really get it with all my heart!

Unbelievably I had never adventured any of Scotland other than the city centre of Edinburgh. Then Lindsey & Richard booked me to photograph their elopement wedding on the banks of Loch Lomond, at Ardoch. So I took the overnight sleeper train from London, arriving early one August morning to Glasgow & drove through the Scottish countryside. Following photographing the couple’s amazing Scotland wedding, I drove 300 miles around Scotland – just a month after passing my driving test – to Glencoe for a few days rest & to see what the hype was about. Honestly? It felt like living in a fairytale of magic, mystery & folklore, with the dark greens & browns saturated with rain scattered here & there with the occasional purple of heather or thistle or foxglove or clover. I had heard so many people tell of Scotland’s true beauty & I never really understood until I was standing there in the middle of Glencoe with the wind roaring through the valley & whipping my hair. What an incredible place! I stayed at The Old School House in Gartocharn for two nights before driving up to Glencoe & Ballachulish. One of my top tips for visiting Glencoe is to stay at Bratach Bhan B&B on the banks of Loch Leven – open your window & afternoon nap to the sound of the loch lapping the shore.

In the middle of a busy wedding photographing summer this trip was a wonderful, literal breath of fresh air. I’ve never felt quiet & peace quite like it, in the middle of a pine forest high above Glencoe. If you’ve not yet experienced the magic of the Scottish landscapes then you simply must! Nx

If you are planning your Glencoe wedding or elopement, or anywhere else in Scotland then I would love to be your photographer & capture your story for you… Please get in touch here. Nx
